Our second week of Senior Seminar's Adulting 101 unit was another big success! Thank you to First National Bank and the UT Extension office for helping our students with budgeting, accounts, loans, fraud detection, and other important financial information.
The Livingston Academy Dance Team will be holding its annual tryouts between April 23rd and 25th. Interested students may scan the attached QR code or contact Coach Angela Sullivan at asullivan@oc-sd.com.
For the upcoming school year (2025-2026), Overton County Schools will complete registration online. This will help speed up the process and reduce the amount of paper and time involved creating the registration materials. We also hope that this is more convenient for families and eliminates the need to list repeated information on registration forms. The registration period lasts until May 30th. The Livingston Academy Senior Seminar classes began their Adulting 101 unit today, with Vice Principal Brandon Cross teaching all things auto. Students observed demonstrations of oil checks, brake inspections, and tire changes– and even got the chance to try it themselves. This multi-week course will feature a new guest speaker at each meeting, including culinary arts and budgeting with the UT Extension office, banking and loans with First National Bank, online scams with the Middle Tennessee Credit Union, taxes with Emma Cannon of James F. Scarlett Accounting, and insurance with Farm Bureau Tennessee. Thank you to teachers Sara Greenwood, Lauren Coffman, Lora Clouse, and Dee Smith for organizing this excellent slate of contributors. We are honored to work with our students in preparation for their life after school and can’t wait to share more in the coming weeks.
April 14th through 24th will be exam season at Livingston Academy. Students should be sure to bring their charged devices to school on these days. The testing schedule can be seen in the attached images.
On April 17th, Livingston Academy will host a meeting for its Class of 2026 Rising Senior (2024-25's Junior class) students. Parents are welcome to attend as information is shared regarding graduation requirements, deadlines, scholarships, and more. This meeting will take place at 5:30 PM in the cafeteria.
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) deadline is seven days away. Visit https://studentaid.gov/ to file and learn more. Please remember FAFSA filing is a mandatory scholarship requirement. Failure to do so will result in the loss of TN Promise eligibility; lost eligibility may not be regained.
The weapons detection system evaluation initially scheduled for March 6th will take place tomorrow, April 8th. We ask that students arrive a little early, if possible, to help ensure everyone gets to class on time. All students will enter the main entrance near the front office. The scanner will be set up and students will simply walk through and enter the building. This will NOT alter school traffic patterns. Students who are dropped off will still be dropped off in the rear of the building. Parents are not to drop off in the front of the building before 7:30. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we explore new ways to improve safety.

the local EMS team has notified the district early this morning concerning the bad weather coming through tonight and the potential for flooding. With some districts closing today, we have received permission form the state to have virtual day tomorrow IF needed. Teachers have sent home assignments this afternoon just in case.

Livingston Academy seniors visited the Overton County Fairgrounds this week, helping to repaint structures and provide a deep cleaning. We are thankful for so many students that take pride in their community!

Our Rising Ninth-Graders Meeting is in two days! Overton County eighth-graders and their families are invited to attend an information session hosted by Livingston Academy's guidance department on March 25th. The meeting will take place during our annual Spring Fling event from 5:00 to 6:00 PM in the LA gymnasium.
Our 2025 Spring Fling is two days away! LA faculty will be present for parent-teacher conferences. Additionally, special programs will be hosted by Rho Kappa, the Creative Music Club, and the CTE department. We hope to see you there!
